When I was working at an Interior Design consultant in Singapore , I noticed that they have enormous picture library of pages they’ve scan from books or magazines and photos of places they’ve visited. The one that took my eyes is all the photos of the hotel they’ve visited (this interior design consultant has many project in hospitality design). A simple tourist-like photo is enough. This photo is either for reference or bench marking. As a designer, visual reference is very important. We are not God the creator, we are never creating anything from scratch, we need something to inspire us to create that’s why it’s called Design.

When I’m travelling or going to a new place, I try to take as many picture as I can for above purpose. Last week I went to Bandung and stayed at The Trans Hotel Bandung. It is claimed to be the first Indonesia’s 6 stars hotel. The neo classical style is well suited for the Indonesian’s definition of luxury. The architect is DP Architects (DPA), like most of the mixed use complex in Jakarta. I’ll share my cynicism  of DPA on other blog but I can not find any info about the interior designer, it’s rumored that it was designed by HBA.

This is some of the photo that i would like to share. The photo is far from perfect because I took it with my smartphone camera. Enjoy.

The Lobby

The Lobby is a bit narrow  and the grand stair divides the lobby with the lobby lounge. I’m curious about the concept. A Mix between chinese style (red, black and gold color, dragon installation and chinese village drawing on the reception counter) and neo-classical style (floral pattern). You’ll find this mix style on most of the interiors. I really like the carpet pattern, the flower and the butterfly.

All Day Dining

In my opinion this all day dining area is a work of FF&E designers.

The 18 Restaurant & Club Lounge

A nice sky lounge with nice view of the city in the evening. The wall, floor and ceiling, nothing left untouch.

Jewel Box – VIP Room

The red room. Love the drapes. Love the armchair fabric. A nice concept for private party. Just above the lobby.

The Grand Ballroom

Like all the new 5 star hotel now days, it is MICE-ready. The chandelier paint  the ceiling. Once again the carpet is well designed, the color and the pattern well complemented the wall and the ceiling.

Spa & Gym

When you enter the Spa & Gym area you will be welcomed with golden mural of flower pattern carving. This is my most favorite piece in the hotel.

Guestroom (Premier room)

The guestroom is all comfy.  I’m not really fond of the Headboard design though. The furniture is supplied by Sanihato.

What do you think of this hotel design? Share your thought on the comment section bellow. Cheers.
